3 Reasons Blogs are Important to Your Website

Conquer SEO For Your Website

Blogging has been around since the dawn of the internet. Starting as an easy way for someone to get their opinions and feelings down on paper, a sort of online diary. In the next several years, blogging has transformed into one of the key components to any business website.

With most businesses having a digital footprint, small businesses need to make sure they are utilizing every piece of their website. Having a great content marketing strategy will help your SEO, search engine optimization, leading to more traffic.

Having an excellent blog should be a major piece of all strategies. Below are three main reasons why a blog is important to your website.

Keywords

By now, most small businesses understand the importance keywords have for their SEO. As a small business owner, to survive, you must have laser-like focus on the keywords you want to dominate for your industry and area. After that, you must write quality content around those keywords.

Blogs are the most popular and easiest way to start getting your keywords into your site. If you are a real estate company looking for first-time homebuyers, it makes sense to write blogs targeted to that demographic, using that keyword. The more you use your keywords, in a relevant manner, the better your site will rank for it.

Think about it from the customer’s perspective. When you are looking for a service online, what do you Google?

New Content

For most businesses, your website is your storefront, and the face of your company. Search engines are the primary way potential clients and customers are going to find your business. You need to do everything you can to increase your search engine rankings. Adding content to your website tells the search engines that your website is active, it also entices people to visit your site more often.

Google recommends adding fresh content to your site a couple times a week. This can be anything from a video, a new page, or in most cases, a blog! Creating new content a couple times a week can be a bear of a task. We recommend writing blogs at least twice a month to keep your website up-to-date.

Industry Leader

Now that we have the SEO pieces out of the way, the most overlooked reason for blogging is positioning yourself and your company as an industry leader. Showcasing your work and talking about industry trends makes your business stand above the rest.

You want to be looked at as the expert in your field and your business as the best place to go for the service and/or product you provide. Let’s go back to the real estate agent. If I am a first-time homebuyer and I come across a website where they are writing about first-time homebuyers and show me how they work with them, I am more likely to use their services. Creating that personal touch with your customer base is one of the best ways to grow your business.

There are many reasons that each business should have a blog, with a few of the main ones being to promote your keywords, keep your website fresh with new content, and to promote you and your business as industry leaders.

Its best to plan your blog strategy in advance and getting two blogs written per month can be a tough task. Not creating a plan makes it way more difficult and we recommend planning out the entire year when possible and even writing them in advance.
